The brand's beautiful ceramic decanters--each designed to honor a different Mexican state and culture--take two weeks each to hand craft. For instance, its Guerrero decanter features jade green paint as a representation of ancestral wisdom and women strength.
Clase Azul stands for quality craftsmanship both in their products and their support of Mexico's artisanal community, leading them to receive the Positive Luxury "Butterfly Mark."
What is Clase Azul Tequila?
Clase Azul produces an array of exquisite handcrafted decanters for their premium tequilas, such as their award-winning Plata which is created using organic blue weber agave that has been slow cooked for 72 hours before distillation - producing an irresistibly smooth spirit that is perfectly mellow, smooth, and irresistible!
Reposado Reynoso is made using premium blue weber agave and slowly cooked for 72 hours in traditional stone ovens before being slowly distilled twice and aged in oak barrels for eight months, resulting in an irresistibly creamy reposado that features subtle notes of vanilla, toffee caramel and other unique notes.
At Azul Mezcal they also produce Anejo and Smoky mezcal, each named for one of Mexico's states. San Luis Potosi mezcal follows in this tradition by featuring one region from each of Mexico's nine mezcal denominations of origin (DO). Salmiana agave from Estacion Ipina village provides this mezcal's base spirit.
The Story of Clase Azul Tequila
Clase Azul has established itself as one of the world's finest spirits, but getting started was no simple task. Arturo Lomeli traveled from bar to bar pitching his tequila but was met with many rejections due to the decanter's large size that did not fit on most shelves and its unaffordability by most consumers.
But Lomeli wasn't ready to give up and decided to take a step back and assess his business from another angle. He reviewed their operations by eliminating cash expenditures, increasing profit margins and slowing growth to ensure smoother cash flow.
This brand has integrated the Hauchichil culture into their identity, using 13 colors of yarn that takes three hours each to hand-craft and arrange onto each bottle top - as a nod to their beliefs that animals and plants possess souls. Furthermore, they make sure to support local communities by planting additional agave plants from Jalisco mountains that supplement wild agave harvesting for additional supplies of mineral-rich water.
Clase Azul Reposado
As its name implies, this reposado tequila is lightly aged in sherry oak casks for optimal sipping pleasure - on its own or mixed into cocktails. Artfully crafted and with notes more similar to cognac or sherry cask aged scotch than typical dry oak notes of traditional tequilas, it is one of the most distinctively flavored premium spirits on the market (though its high price point of $200 or more per 750mL bottle may put some off).
Jalisco, known as the heartland of authentic tequila production, provides an ideal environment for cultivating hardy blue agave plants used in producing this tequila.
Each bottle of cristal azul reposado is hand-carved and painted by indigenous artists in Santa Maria Canchesda village, drawing their inspiration from traditional recipes and values for a truly distinctive appearance. Furthermore, every bottle comes complete with its own certificate of authenticity to add value and quality of this premium spirit.
Clase Azul Ultra
Clase Azul Ultra tequila is an artisan-crafted ultra premium tequila made from 100% Tequilana Weber Blue Agave and aged for 8 months before bottling by artisans as part of an exceptional craft beverage collection. Each bottle is handcrafted and painted by master artists, giving each a one-of-a-kind piece of art.
Tequila from Casa Noble can be enjoyed neat or on the rocks, making its stunning bottles stunning additions to any bar. Their most popular varieties are their Plata and Reposado selections while there is also an Anejo version which has been aged for more than 12 months.
This brand offers a distinctive approach to tequila packaging, with each bottle becoming a work of art that celebrates Mexico's culture and history. Their latest offering, Edicion Indigena Mazahua (Mazahua-Edition), pays homage to Mexican indigenous roots by mixing hand-made Mexican clay techniques with European glazing techniques as well as adding gold accents and featuring an exclusive golden seal on top of each bottle.
